Pinch Me, Please

I went on an interview yesterday for another Architect Firm:

It’s too good to be true.

The skeptic in me has me questioning, “Did that really happen?” It wasn’t even an interview really; more like meeting an old friend whom you haven’t seen in years. The lady conducting the interview is a native of my general area near San Francisco. We started our conversation with my area of “expertise” and how excited she was to meet me. I had the job before I even showed; I just haven’t accepted it yet. The whole time she kept saying how wonderful I am and I will be a great asset to the firm. We also came to an agreement that I was not getting the proper pay that I deserve. You see, the salary is not quite as much in Sacramento as it is in the Bay Area. She and I both agreed that the absurd difference in salary range exceeds that of inequality. It’s not THAT MUCH cheaper to live here. Maybe buying a house is cheaper but after your first years of $6,000 taxes and the $2,000 melaruse (school tax for new schools), it all starts to even out eventually.

I don’t know what it is with this area and employers. They don’t wanna pay shit and when they do give you a good pay, believe me, you’re doing tasks that you never thought you would be doing. What is it with you fucking people in Sacramento? You can’t drive worth shit and you don’t pay worth shit. Why??? This ain’t no fuckin 1980’s; it’s the Millennium so start PAYING MILLENIUM SALARIES! $8/HR FOR AN ADMIN POSITION WAS 20 FREAKIN YEARS AGO! HELLO, McFLY!!!!

Back to the interview, everything is the same as the current job I am at now. I have the same benefits only Dental is added without an additional charge and I get one less day of sick time. I could careless about that. I like the fact that I will have Dental and not have to pay $40/month for it. Not to mention, I would be my own boss. They don’t have an Admin Manager that oversees anyone! Can you believe that?!?!?!? AND I get to set my own hours and I can also flex time. They have a gym in the building too. Oh man, I can feel my ass getting smaller just thinking about it. There are two major differences though. Yes, major differences. ONE – They are offering me $8,000 more a year AND TWO – check it out, check it out now

IT’S ONLY NINE BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE! NO MORE 45 MINUTE COMMUTES!!!!!!

Aren’t you proud of me??? Now, the only reason why I think it’s too good to be true is because I walked out of there floating on a cloud and I couldn’t help but wonder, “What’s the catch?” I hate when I do that but I can’t help it.

I do have the job though. I know that for sure because they are sending out my offer letter on Tuesday when the VP returns from vacation. I love the job that I am at now but lately, I have felt that a few people are not appreciating what I do and they seem to be stepping all over me and taking advantage of me. I thought that it was only in my head until a few of my coworkers confronted me about it and thought the same thing I did. That’s when I decided that I wanted to move on before it got any worse and I started to resent someone. However, it’s too late. I’ve already began to resent my boss, whom I love very much. That’s not good.
