No Talent Music

My brother and I was listening to Jack Johnson in his truck, on our way to dinner with the family. His taste in music consists of a wide range of musicians but I also remembered, as a teenager, he was a big fan of rap. He loved the oldies, (Sir-Mix-A-Lot, NWA, Snoop Dog, LL Cool J, Run DMC, EZ-E, etc.) “Old rap use to have a story to it and their own unique sound. Nowadays, all you hear is a bunch of no-talent, melody stealin rappers. I don’t really listen to that music anymore. I like something with a tune.”

Personally, I like Jack Johnson and all but all his music sounds the same to me.

I use to listen to the 1980’s rap. 20 years later, I became bored with it after hearing the same beat in every song. There’s no variety beat and all lyrics boil down to the same message, “Stay out of my neighborhood or I’ll kill you with my gun. Now be on your way so that I can go home and slap my girlfriend around.” What is the emotional feeling behind these lyrics that motivate people to get up and dance or want to go out and have a good time? The last thing I want to hear before I go to a party is a song about someone being shot and killed for walking down the street. How depressing.

"All through the hood, I keep hearin' niggas sayin'
I'm supposed to die tonight
niggas come put a hit out and they talkin' like the shit okay
I'm down to ride tonight
We rollin, whip stolen, AK loaded
I'm down to ride tonight
We smokin', straight locin', locked and loaded
Somebody gon' die tonight"

Doesn’t it just make you wanna jump up and say, “Yeah! Let’s go out and have a good time, dance all night with friends!” If it does, then you ARE a sick bastard.

It’s not just the rappers that have taken a plunge into black hole music; it’s also these wanna be no talent ass clown alternative bands that the music industry is producing faster than ant colonies. No longer are these producers searching for talent; they're searching for a quick buck and it’s ruining the music industry. It’s gone; dead.

R.I.P. Music World: 1950-2000, because the only thing you’re good for now is a bunch of imprudent rappers and more one-hit wonders produced in five years than there was in fifty.
