Size Does Matter

Bello and I went clothes shopping on Sunday. We spent quite a bit of money but there were some great bargains. I love Old Navy, I don’t know why, I just do. Bello and Belle prefer the expensive stores like Nordstrom or Pimpercrombie and Bitch. I’m a bargain girl with a very unfashionable wardrobe. I used to care about my wardrobe when I was fifty pounds lighter however, now I go for comfort as opposed to looks. Bello always has to shop with me to make sure that I am not buying "granny clothes".

While we were shopping, I saw that Bello had quite a bit of clothes in his hand.

“Shouldn’t you try those on, Bello?”

“No. I know my size.”

I know my size as well, especially with the clothes at Old Navy. Bello on the other hand thinks he is smaller than he actually is. It hasn’t quite registered that his waist size is two sizes bigger than it was five years ago. He realizes that he has gained weight but the fact that his clothing size is two sizes bigger, hasn’t quite registered yet. I thought he knew his size too and was buying clothes accordingly.

I never thought about it when I got home. I washed them. He tried them on. They didn’t fit. Oooops.

The shirts and a pair of shorts and pants fit fine but there were a few pairs of shorts and pants that he bought that didn’t fit.

“I told you to try them on.”

“I thought they would fit.”

“Well, what size are they?”

“34”

“You’re a 36, Bello.”

“I couldn’t remember if I was a 34 or a 36 so I bought both.”

“That's why you should try them on! I washed them and now we can’t take them back.”

“What??? How would they know if it was washed?”

“You can try and return them. I guess you have to shop with me to make sure that my clothes are in style and I have to shop with you to make sure you buy clothes that fit.”

Stores these days will take anything back because they let him exchange the clothes that didn’t fit, with or without tags AND WASHED.

I’ll be shopping there more often.
